At the beginning of 2021, a new construction of a new terminal in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands, began. The terminal will be 10,000 m2 and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2022, before the start of the season. We are pleased that we at Alex Andersen will be ready for further growth in the Netherlands, and not least it will also be a major upgrade of the facilities for our drivers, terminal and office. We are very much looking forward to the project being completed.
Many of our customers buy large quantities of flowers at the Flora Holland Auction, and we look forward to our new terminal being able to make it even easier to repack these flowers before they are shipped on.
We at Alex Andersen already have a 3,000m2 warehouse in Kudelstaart, about 4 km from Aalsmeer. Here we receive daily between 500 and 1500 flower containers, which we repack and on the same day transport on to Denmark, Germany, Norway and Sweden. This freight is handled by between 20-40 trucks, with the first typically arriving in the morning at. 07.00. Around 22.00 the warehouse is emptied again and the last car drives towards Denmark.
It is our expectation that the new terminal in Aalsmeer can have a good and productive collaboration with the warehouse in Kudelstaart, so that we can serve even more of our many customers, around Europe. In this way, we ensure that Alex Andersen remains one of the leading flower transporters in Europe.
